I can’t stand her. Even when she sounds silly, she still manages to seem likable.
“Does anyone have any more suggestions for the new Cape Robbin campaign?”
“I do,” Ashley rises from her seat once again, drawing the attention of the entire room. Her spice pumpkin latte in one hand perfumes the room as she confidently moves to the center.
Damn it. looks like we going to be here through lunch.
“Well, I was thinking, how about coordinating the pink shoes with the Breast Cancer Walk?” Her eyes gleam as though she’s just discovered a new mathematical equation.
We all stare at her in wonder. It’s been done before, but yet she beams as though she’s reinvented sliced bread.
“Umm, Ashley,” I sense Mark’s disposition. I’m sure the words are brimming on his tongue, but he smiles gently.
“Wait, hear me out…,” she says.
No, I don’t want to hear you out. I wish you would sit your spice pumpkin latte ass down, for goodness sake.
With a bat of her eyelashes, she stops him in mid-sentence and holds up her stiletto as though it were a rare piece of art.
“Any woman with a style about her loves a stiletto heel. It’s sexy, confident, and in many ways strong enough to stabilize a woman’s weight. Isn’t that what our survivors are? It’s not just pink heels; it’s strength and confidence that shoulders the weight of these women. Can’t we honor them with sexy heels that also encourage their livelihood? Think: ‘Stiletto Strong: Stepping Up for Breast Cancer Survivors’
Mark pauses and recite the words again, “Stiletto Strong; Stepping Up for Breast Cancer Survivors. I think I like that.”
And just like that, the air in the room shifted. All heads nod in agreement. Her ideas weren’t so silly anymore. Ashley rests her cup on the table and with one hand places her orange-hued stiletto back on.
“I think you are on to something, Ashley,” Mark says, acknowledging her brilliance.
With a wink and a click of her stiletto-clad heels, Ashley had not only changed the course of the campaign but also allowed us enough time for lunch.
And so, the campaign took an unexpected turn, celebrating women’s heels not just as fashion statements, but as emblems of empowerment. It turns out, that sometimes brilliance is just a pair of stilettos away.
